How’s it going everybody? It’s Lucas Scheele with KC Pier and Kansas City Property Guys. Today we’re actually out in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Going to be looking at a house where there was a situation with some aging parents and they just had to move on from this house. But lucky for us, we have the president of KC Pier and Kansas City Property Guys here, Eric Scheele, and he’s going to give us the lowdown on this house. Let’s jump right into this, guys.

Aging Parents Cases

Eric Scheele:
Hi, my name’s Eric Scheele. I’m with the KC Property Guys and today we’re out in Lee’s summit, Missouri. We’re walking a house before it actually gets listed. We’re going to end up cleaning this house still and then ultimately list here coming up on the weekend. We’re about to give you a tour of this house, but in this particular case, this house is a real common phone call that we get at KC Property Guys. This call came from a daughter who is calling for her parents. The parents were getting to the age where the deferred maintenance was just getting too much, the house was too much square footage for them to ultimately live alone. The husband of the daughter, the son-in-law, actually built living space in their particular house that the parents were going to move to.

Eric Scheele:
We call these houses aging-parent houses, aging-parents cases. This is a real common call that we get at KC Property Guys. In this particular house kind of address everything, and Lucas is actually going to give you a tour of that today once we’re done here, but if you guys find yourself in a similar position where you are a son or a daughter that has some parents that are getting older and you don’t necessarily know what to do with the house, or the house has too much deferred maintenance to ultimately consider it as part of a real estate route for selling, or if you’re the parents themselves and you’re looking to downsize or you’re getting to the point where that house is just getting to be too much for you, feel free to give us a call or go to kcpropertyguys.com. You can fill out a form and we’ll be in touch with you. We’ll ultimately tour the house and work out what we call that win-win scenario, where everybody feels like they’re treated fairly and we can come up to a close and a timeline that ultimately works for everyone’s time.

Home Tour

Eric Scheele:
But anyway, we’re going to give you the tour today. We’ll walk through it. This one’s coming up on the market here real soon. If you find yourself in a similar situation with aging parents, feel free to reach out to us.

Lucas Scheele:
Hey, everybody. I’m back just to show you a little bit of these upgrades that we did in this house. Let’s jump right into this. Here is going to be your living room, as you can tell. A lot of new paint in this house. There really wasn’t anything that we didn’t touch in here. You got a great, great brick fireplace right there. It’s going to open up to your dining room, where we have a great new light fixture right in the middle. That would go over the dining room table. You also have a really, really cool screened deck with a sliding glass door on it as well, so you guys can sit out here without any of the bugs really getting after you, which is pretty nice.

Lucas Scheele:
Yeah, the screened-in patio is probably my favorite feature about this deck out here, because bugs can really be a nuisance in the summertime and no one really likes getting eaten on by bugs. But from those glass doors, it’s going to open up into your brand new kitchen. We’ve got awesome new appliances as well as cabinets, granite countertops. I am loving these granite countertops. They just look awesome, really, really nice. New sink as well.

Lucas Scheele:
Let’s go ahead upstairs. As we’re walking up these stairs, you’re going to open up to a restroom on the left. All new tile work, as well as paint, in here. As we turn right, go down our hallway, it’s going to open up to your master bedroom right here. You’ve got your own bathroom right back here with some awesome tile work, absolutely love the tile work in here. I think it’s just fantastic.

Lucas Scheele:
Coming out of the master bedroom, it’s going to open up to your first guest bedroom over here on the left side. Big old closet space there for you as well. Then to the right side of the hallway coming upstairs is going to be your other guest bedroom. Still really, really large closet space as well, more storage right here. Let’s head downstairs.

Lucas Scheele:
Alrighty. If you were to come downstairs from the upstairs, going to open up through this doorway that’s going to lead to your two-car garage. You have quite a bit of space in here for some storage, stuff on the side, and still have your cars in. We’re going to go to the right, which is down to more storage area, or the basement of this house. As you can see, it just has a lot of space down here for extra storage or whatever you might want to make it into.

Lucas Scheele:
That’s going to conclude the walk around for this house. If you guys are interested, it’s going to be coming on the market soon and I’m sure we’re going to be getting a video up for that. But if you guys enjoyed this video, give us a thumbs up and leave a comment if you have any questions. You guys have a great day.
